About Finding Peace of Mind with Jonathan Kemp at Central Library - Aberdeen Central Library

Jonathan Kemp, Viscount Rochdale, is undertaking an extraordinary 10-month, 4,200km walk from the Shetland Islands to Galway to raise money for four mental health charities and spark open, honest conversations about mental health.

Jonathan will also be raising money for SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) who are opening Scotland's second Nook in Aberdeen. The Nook will be a free, confidential walk-in mental health hub offering support with no referrals, no rejections and no waiting lists and represents a major step forward in accessible community mental health care.Living with bipolar disorder, depression, addiction and dyslexia, Jonathan spent four decades undiagnosed and struggling, including periods of suicidal ideation. His life took many paths, punk, Australian cowboy, London bricklayer, Metropolitan Police sergeant and entrepreneur, before recovery led him to a life of purpose and hope.As part of his journey, Jonathan delivers powerful talks that are raw, honest and deeply human. His story challenges stigma, normalises conversations about mental health, and inspires audiences to keep going, even when the road feels long. This is more than a talk. It’s a conversation about courage, connection and hope.
