6.00pm – 7.30pm

Aberdeen Arts Centre is delighted to support new emerging North-East writer, Kenna Anderson, as she launches her first poetry collection, The Winds of Change , aimed at bringing light to readers on dark days. With hope at the heart of the collection, the poems offer solace and inspiration, to lift your soul and remind you that love shines through.

The poems in the collection have already gathered a huge following from the general public – ordinary people, at extraordinary times in their lives - who take solace and inspiration from her words. First copies of the book have already been very well received, with sales reaching as far as Canada.

Talking about the importance of the new collection, Kenna :

“I’m excited to share my first collection of poetry, aimed at helping others who are going through difficult periods in their life. I know with my whole heart that words matter, and they can be the most powerful medicine of all. My hope is readers who pick this book up will realise they are not alone in their feelings in this world. The collection of 123 poems, is digestible, uplifting poetry, writing as an easy, daily reminder to bring you comfort, motivation and inspiration.”

THE PIECES OF ME

When I remember, all the pieces of me,
I’ve given away, shared gladly for free,
I smile at the pieces, I remember their time,
I remember their laughter, I remember their shine.

Even the ones, that were taken from me,
That ones that were stolen, the ones that weren’t free.
The pieces that changed me, that made me grow,
So I could become, the women you know.

I smile at them all, the pieces now gone,
I know they aren’t yet, my swan song.
All the pieces, the young girl to now,
The winds of change, have taken somehow.

So if you have one of the pieces of me,
Know there’s light in there, you can’t see.
Know that I’m in there, long after I’m gone,
And with you, I once did belong.

All these pieces, they make up my heart,
So I’ll not be far, when we are apart.
Given away, at no cost,
That’s how I know, they can never be lost.

All scattered around, like water at sea,
Are all of the memories, and pieces of me.
