Alastair Scott is a multifaceted individual known for his work as an author, photographer, broadcaster, lecturer and yachtsman. He has written ten books, including travel literature, a guide, a biography and two novels. One of his notable works is “Degrees of Illusion,” a novel set in Greenland that intertwines the life of the protagonist with that of an Arctic explorer who died mysteriously a century earlier.
Born in Edinburgh, Alastair Scott embarked on a five-year hitch-hiking journey around the world after university and training as a photographer, which led to the creation of a slide library and a trilogy of travel books based on his experiences. His adventurous spirit is evident in his various journeys, including cycling behind the Iron Curtain, sled dog traversing Alaska and solo circumnavigations of Ireland and the Faroes. He has recently returned from the last leg of a cycling trip from Norway's North Cape to Zimbabwe's Victoria Falls.
He always travels with an eye for humour and the unusual. This talk brings together some of the strangest and more amusing sights he’s experienced from around the world!
