About Live: The Burns Project - The Hit Edinburgh Fringe Show - Haddo House
Discover the real man behind the myth in this Edinburgh Fringe sell-out hit.
Performances at 3.30pm & 7.30pm.
Immersive dinner table seats on set or traditional riser seating available.
See the brilliance and contradictions of Robert Burns brought to life through his private letters, poems, and live music. Using original archives, performers James Clements and Lisa Rigby expose the secrets of Scotland’s national icon.
Set around an atmospheric dining table, the play brings the national icon to life. Experience Burns unfiltered, as the set comes alive with hidden voices, music and secrets - titillating, shameful and surprising in equal measure.
Co-created with the National Trust for Scotland and multi-award-winning Fringe director Cora Bissett (June Carter Cash: The Woman, Her Music and Me and What Girls Are Made Of), the production enjoyed a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe, earning ★★★★ reviews from The Guardian and The Scotsman, and it was named one of The Herald’s Top 10 shows of the festival.
The performance features strong language/swearing. This piece includes direct and indirect discussion of gender, race, sexual situations and enslaved people. Please see Eventbrite ticketing page for all details and FAQs.
We’re proud to host this performance as part of our mission to share Scotland’s stories with everyone. By attending the show, you're also supporting our charity in protecting the nation's precious heritage.
