About Kinneff Old Church
Kinneff Old Church, just north of Inverbervie, is famously where the Scottish Crown Jewels were hidden during Oliver Cromwell’s siege in 1652. After being smuggled out of Dunnottar Castle, the regalia were secretly buried in the church for nine years until the restoration of Charles II.The church is open daily and features a display detailing the dramatic history of the Crown Jewels, the church itself, notable graves in the churchyard, and the heritage of nearby fishing villages.
