The festive season is a magical time in the Granite City and beyond — lights, markets, music and seasonal charm make for a perfect lead-up to Christmas. Here are 12 things to do across Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire to spark joy over the festive weeks.

Day 1: Stroll through the Aberdeen Christmas Village

Kick off your festive countdown with a visit to Aberdeen’s Christmas Village on Broad Street. You’ll find an open-air ice rink, funfair rides, festive food stalls and twinkling lights.

Day 2: Explore the Curated in the Square Christmas Market

Held on weekends at Marischal Square, this market highlights local artisans, crafts, food producers and seasonal gifts. Perfect for unique pressie-hunting.

Day 3: Visit the Nativity Scene at Union Terrace Gardens

From early December through January, a traditional nativity scene is displayed in Union Terrace Gardens - a peaceful, reflective stop amid the bustle.

Day 4: Go Ice Skating & Ride the Fairground

Glide across the rink in the Christmas Village, then treat yourself to the funfair attractions (carousel, bumper cars, etc.). A festive way to get active and enjoy the night atmosphere.

Day 11: Catch a Theatre or Concert Event

Check what’s on at Aberdeen’s theatres or venues. Cinderella is this years Pantomime at His Majesty's theatre, whilst P&J are hosting Christmas films accompanied by a live orchestra!
