Kids go free @ Peterhead Prison Museum

Looking for a family day out this summer that's a bit different? Head to Peterhead Prison, where children go free as part of the Summer Family Offer, running until 1 September 2026.

Up to two children aged 5–15 receive free Prison Entry with every paying adult (children under 5 always go free). Eligible children can also bag a free snack box from the on-site café when £10 or more is spent on food and drink in a single transaction.

Step inside more than 125 years of Scottish prison history at this largely indoor, weather-independent attraction, perfect for a rainy day out. Explore at your own pace, relax in the café afterwards, and bring the dog along too – well-behaved four-legged visitors are welcome. Guided Tours are available for those wanting to dig deeper into the stories behind the walls (additional charge, subject to availability).

Open daily, 10am–3pm. Book online or purchase on arrival, subject to availability. Visitors must select the Summer Family Offer ticket online to receive free child admission.
