The Peterhead Prison Museum, housed in the former Victorian HM Convict Prison, offers a unique and immersive experience into Scotland’s criminal history. This iconic location not only housed some of the most notorious prisoners in the UK but also features the first state-owned railway in the country. We look forward to welcoming you soon.After your tour, enjoy a relaxing time at the museum café, which offers stunning views of the Harbour of Refuge—the very reason the prison was built in Peterhead in 1888. The café serves light lunch options, including soups, sandwiches, toasties, and a selection of cakes, along with hot and cold beverages.For added accessibility, an elevator is available. Small meeting rooms can also be booked in advance. These rooms, located in the refurbished C Hall, will open at the end of 2018 and offer modern facilities while retaining the historic prison aesthetic.
