Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop - The Barn

Apple tree expert Andrew Lear is returning to the Barn for an apple tree pruning workshop. The workshop will be held at Woodend, home of The Far Orchard artist-in-residence Mel Shand, outside Finzean, a 30-minute drive from the Barn.

Get “up close and personal” with apple trees and gain valuable hands-on experience of the whole pruning process. Ideal for complete beginners and for those wishing to refresh skills.
Andrew will go through the different methods of pruning and the reasons for it and talk through tool safety and maintenance. You are welcome to bring along what you normally prune with, including loppers, secateurs and sharpening tools for Andrew to comment on.

Andrew will be demonstrating a variety of apple trees at Woodend, Forest of Birse. There will be ample time to ask questions and become confident with techniques. Bring photos of your own apple trees for individual advice, or questions on apple tree pests,diseases and disorders.

Please wear warm clothes,gloves and strong footwear. The Barn will provide hot drinks and sweet treats to keep your strength up! Please bring a packed lunch.
