About Ma Name Is Isabelle - The MacRobert Hall
Ages 12+
A reimagining of the famous bothy ballad, Bogies Bonnie Belle, which deals with farm life, class and love but never from the perspective of the titular Belle.
Told entirely in Doric, the native dialect spoken in the North East of Scotland, this unique and easy-to-follow spoken word performance by Lucy Beth unveils Isabelles story. A young woman impregnated against her will, ostracised as an unmarried mother and separated from her son, Isabelles resilience is marked by her strength and triumph over adversity.
