flock: Paper Folded Lightshade Workshop - The Barn

Join maker-designer Mhairi McBeath in creating your very own Folded Lightshade. In this workshop you will learn core and transferable paper folding techniques to create a folded pendant lightshade to decorate your home.
We will begin by drafting the pattern of the shade onto premium paper, available in a variety of colours, score the pattern on and then fold the design together. We will finish the design by punching holes to tie the piece together. Each participant of this workshop will also be issued with a worksheet of instructions to take away in case they wish to repeat the design at home. 
Mhairi McBeath is a contemporary designer and maker based in Aberdeen, Scotland, specialising in ceramics, paper folding, and lighting. After graduating from Gray’s School of Art in 2023, she established her practice at Deemouth Artist Studios. Mhairi combines traditional wheel throwing with modern technology, using 3D printing to create custom tools and stamps for her ceramic pieces. Additionally, she designs bespoke light shades inspired by origami.
