The Barn

The Barn is a multi-arts centre in Banchory, committed to culture, arts and ecology. Through our diverse arts programme, we offer a range of engaging creative activities in collaboration with local artists and performers. Guests can expect live music from world-class musicians, exhibitions in our gallery which rotate regularly, live theatre and dance performances, and much more.

The Barn regularly hosts film screenings of popular upcoming releases, making the Barn Banchory's local cinema. Expect films suitable for all ages, including our special relaxed screenings, suitable for those who need breaks or extra support through performances. The Barn has a regular rotation of live screenings of performances from the National Theatre, The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera, making these large scale productions accessible to the local community.

Families and children of all ages are welcome at our family events at the Barn. We regularly host music, dance and theatre events which are suitable for children of all ages. Our HIVE kids art class programme at the Barn runs regularly in 4 week blocks which invites children to explore their creativity. Of course, children aren't the only ones who get to have all the fun. Our Third Stage Art programme is designed for participants over 55 years old and runs in 4 weeks blocks also.

As the Barn is a charity, we regularly host fundraising events such as our seasonal ceilidhs, Over 30s Disco, and Quiz nights. These events help to support the important cultural work we do at the Barn.

A real highlight of the Barn's calendar is our annual craft and design fair, FLOCK which hosts over 40 designer-makers each year.

The Barn is available for weddings, and other bespoke events such as parties and corporate events. The Barn blends rustic charm with creative elegance for a weddings and events that feels unique to you. With a dedicated events coordinator and a personal approach, we’ll help you shape your event to something truly memorable.

The Barn is equipped to a high technical standard and has extensive experience hosting national companies, industry events, and bespoke private celebrations.

Only 30 minutes from Aberdeen, with excellent transport routes and ample onsite parking, the Barn can accommodate events for up to 250 guests theatre-style or 300 for standing events.

As a registered charity, all money raised from venue hires goes directly into supporting our creative programme and educational workshops. By hosting your event at the Barn, you are also contributing to community well-being by helping provide access to the arts.
