About VSA Heritage Tour
Welcome to VSA’s Heritage Tour, where you can explore the city of Aberdeen while discovering some of our key milestones.Pick up your free (donations welcome) tour map at any of the 12 Aberdeen City Libraries or the VSA Book Shop at Castle Gate. Scan the QR code to access details and an audio description for each tour stop. Click or touch the map points to visit 20 locations across Aberdeen City Centre and learn more about VSA's history spanning over 150 years.The charity was founded on 10th March 1870 by Alexander Nicol, Aberdeen Lord Provost, after he called a public meeting to form the association in response to the condition of the poor. VSA’s connection with the Royal Household began in 1870 when Queen Victoria granted patronage, and every reigning monarch since has been a patron of the charity.We hope you enjoy learning our history as much as we do.
