Trout Fishing at Glen Tanar

Tucked away in the peaceful pine forests of Glen Tanar, our sparkling trout loch offers a fly-fishing experience unlike any other. Surrounded by heather-clad hills and Caledonian woodland, it’s a place where time slows, wildlife stirs, and nature takes centre stage.  Fly fishing from boats only, the loch provides a tranquil setting for both seasoned anglers and beginners alike. The gentle ripple of the water, the reflection of the trees and the thrill of the catch make every session memorable.

Trout fishing is available year-round, subject to weather conditions.

Online booking is open from 24 March to 31 October.

From April to September, two daily sessions are available:

• Morning: 9am–3pm
• Afternoon: 3pm–9pm

Please note: During the months of March and October, fishing runs as a single session from 9am–5pm.

Outside these dates, trout fishing may still be available if conditions allow. Please contact the estate office directly to discuss availability.

Two boats are available per session, each accommodating up to two rods — ideal for individuals, pairs or families looking to share the experience.
