The Ship Inn

The Ship Inn (est. 1771) is spectacularly situated on the edge of Stonehaven’s historic and picturesque harbour.Excellent home-cooked meals are served in the Captain’s Table Restaurant – offering splendid harbour views through floor-to-ceiling windows – the cosy bar, and, weather permitting, the outside terrace overlooking the harbour. Fresh seafood is a speciality, but meat and vegetarian dishes are also available, all using the finest locally sourced ingredients, along with scrumptious homemade desserts.A good selection of draught and bottled beers (including real ales) and ciders is available, as well as a wide range of spirits and liqueurs, including over 100 single malt whiskies and a fine selection of craft gins. There is also a wine list with options by the glass, a good range of soft drinks, freshly ground coffee, and a selection of teas. Dogs are welcome in the bar.The Ship Inn has 11 modern, well-appointed ensuite bedrooms. Seven of the rooms offer splendid harbour views. Accommodation includes 4 doubles, 2 family rooms, and 1 single with harbour view, as well as 2 twins and 2 doubles without views. All double beds are UK kingsize.All rooms include tea/coffee facilities, flat-screen televisions with Freeview, radio/alarm clocks, desk/dressing tables, and hairdryers. A full Scottish breakfast is served in the Captain’s Table Restaurant and is included in the tariff.The Inn is conveniently situated close to Aberdeen, Royal Deeside, and many local attractions such as Dunnottar Castle and Stonehaven’s famous Art Deco open-air swimming pool. Stonehaven is just off the A90 and is well served by public transport – the railway station is a mile away, with bus services even closer.
