The Sand Bothy

The Sand Bothy is an exciting community-led project, run by a dedicated group of volunteers. It is made up of three main areas – the Kiosk, the Main Space, and the wonderful outdoors.The Kiosk serves hot and cold drinks and ice cream through a hatch on the beach side of the building.In the Main Space, the Visitor Centre displays a range of educational information about Balmedie Beach and the environment. Over time, this space will also host a variety of groups and activities, including baby and children’s classes, craft clubs, fundraising events, educational talks, exhibitions, post-sport meet-ups, or even business meetings. It is a flexible space for the community to enjoy, with good disabled access.And of course, there’s the outdoors. The Sand Bothy is a place where visitors can come together to learn more about Balmedie Beach and its stunning environment. The dunes are absolutely breath-taking. Whether you’re here for a walk, to take photographs, fly a kite, or even surf the waves, The Sand Bothy is all about you – the community and its visitors.
