About The Brandsbutt Stone

The Brandsbutt Stone is a Class I Pictish stone carved from whinstone, bearing incised symbols of a crescent and V-rod above a serpent and Z-rod. Once broken by explosives, it has since been restored.On its left side is an inscription in Ogham script reading IRATADDOARENS, thought to translate as Eddarrnon - possibly a reference to St Ethernanus, a local saint.
