Cambus O'May - Forestry Commission Scotland

About Cambus O'May - Forestry Commission Scotland

Cambus O'May is a place that you will want to visit again and again. It has lochans, bridges and winding trails through the Scots Pine on waymarked routes. The views are terrific and you can see up Deeside to the mountains beyond. This woodland will enchant you with its hidden gems and variety of trails. You'll enjoy the tranquility of the towering Scots Pines, the sweeping Grand Firs, two Lochans and outstanding views. In summer, you'll see dancing Damselflies and Dragonflies over the Lochans. Watch out for the rare pearl bordered Fritillary Butterfly flitting among the plants (it has two silver 'pearls' on the underside of its hind wings). You might catch a glimpse of Red Squirrels, or even a Capercaillie or Black Grouse so please keep your dog under close control. Directions: Cambus O'May Wood lies on the north side of the A93 between Ballater and Dinnet. From Ballater, take the A93 east. The Cambus O'May car park is sign posted on your left roughly 4 km from the edge of Ballater. There is a bus stop at the forest entrance. Ballater, Aboyne, and Dinnet are the nearest towns or villages.
