Balmoral Castle

About Balmoral Castle

Balmoral Castle has been the Scottish home of the Royal Family since it was purchased for Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1852, having been first leased in 1848. The Castle is an example of Scots Baronial architecture and is classified by Historic Scotland as a Category A listed building. Enjoy access to the formal and vegetable gardens, the wildlife, Balmoral and audio visual exhibitions together with the largest room in the Castle, the Ballroom. Please note that all other rooms within the Castle are not available to the public as these are His Majesty The Kings's private rooms. The admission charges includes the audio handset tour, which is available in English, Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Please note that the audio tour is only available for admissions before 4.00 p.m. Afterwards relax in the coffee shop and purchase unique souvenirs from the gift shop.
