About Attention Seekers: Exploring Neurodivergence and Addiction With Millie Gooch - The Lemon Tree
Customer Notice - Amber Weather Warning Issued
An amber weather warning has been issued to Aberdeen City Centre from 9pm on Saturday to 9pm on Sunday for wind from Storm Boelo.
An outdoor soundfestival event has been cancelled but all indoor events are scheduled to go ahead.
Please refer to Weather Updates for the most up to date information including a section of frequently asked questions.
Welcome to our neurodiversity event series, Attention Seekers. This series reclaims the phrase that is often used to dismiss people trying to understand why they don’t ‘fit in’. In each event, we will hear from neurodivergent leaders sharing refreshingly honest experiences, replacing judgement and shame with understanding.
With Attention Seekers we are creating a safe space to come together to feel heard and supported.
Our third event in the series is a live conversation with autistic and ADHD bestselling author and founder of the Sober Girls Society, Millie Gooch.
Come along for an open, validating conversation exploring the link between neurodivergence and addiction.
Millie will draw from her own lived experience with late diagnosed AuDHD - and the impact this had on her relationship with alcohol - with her MSc in Mental Health and Addiction.
She will explore how neurodivergent brains use alcohol, binge eating, doomscrolling, impulsive shopping and more to cope with sensory overload and anxiety.
Millie is passionate about showing people that there is another way and they aren’t broken if they are struggling with addiction. Expect a warm, accepting space where you will learn the ‘why’ behind your impulses without a shred of judgement.
Following the main chat, the floor opens to you for an honest, interactive audience Q&A.
