About Forged Silver Bangle Workshop - The Barn
Have you ever fancied having a go at jewellery making? Now’s your chance! Join Kate from The Cat’s Shed Jewellery for a fun, hands-on bangle-making workshop where you'll create a beautiful piece of jewellery to take home and wear with pride.
Starting with a simple strip of silver, you'll learn the ancient art of fforging-using heat, hammers and a little bit of muscle to transform metal into something unique. Once your bangle is formed, it's time to get creative! Using a selection of characterful old hammers and a traditional anvil, you'll add your own texture and design, ensuring no two bangles are ever the same. Expect plenty of hammering, shaping and satisfying metalwork along the way!
For safety, please tie back long hair and wear closed-toe shoes and clothing without loose sleeves or dangling items. And if you need glasses for close upwork, bring them too.
No experience needed, just bring your enthusiasm and we'll provide everything else.
Kate discovered her passion for jewellery making after joining an evening class five years ago and has been hooked ever since. She enjoys combining traditional silversmithing and jewellery making techniques with her own distinctive style to create unique, handcrafted pieces. Inspired by life in rural Aberdeenshire, Kate works from a workshop tucked away in a steading, kindly shared by her two farm cats, who remain firmly in charge of the premises.
