About Ballater Audax - Road and Gravel Cycling Events - Cycle Highlands
The Ballater Weekend consists of four cycling events, with a choice of 100km and 50km distances, and road or gravel routes.
Our gravel rides take in some of the finest off-road cycling in the UK, across majestic Deeside in its autumn splendour. Enjoy the gravel tracks, autumnal colours, dramatic views and hidden bothies. The Highland Pony is a 100km (62 mile) route. The Faithful Servant is a 50km (31 mile) route, exploring places associated with John Brown, Queen Victoria's famous servant. Refreshments are provided at a checkpoint on both days.
Our road events include a 100km (62 mile) route, the Strathdon Road Route. This takes in some classic, but not brutal climbing. Take your time and enjoy the stunning mountain views and the opportunity to explore some of the small hidden gems of the Cairngorms, including stone circles, remote churches, beautiful bridges and excellent pubs.
All events are run on a non-profit basis, by volunteers under Audax UK, the UK's long distance cycling association. This non-competitive cycling format requires riders to complete the set route within a generous time limit. The Ballater weekend rides provide an introduction to these unique cycling events, which offer rides from 50km to 1500km (31-932 miles) in more than 60 countries.
