The Magic of the Mind - Aberdeen Art Gallery

Psychologists, neuroscientists, engineers and magicians will join forces for The Magic of the Mind, a free public event exploring the mysteries of the human mind. Throughout the evening, visitors can enjoy live magic shows by the Aberdeen Magical Society (which is also celebrating its 100th anniversary this year), meet robots with distinct personalities, explore virtual reality, see brain activity recorded live, and take part in a range of interactive demonstrations and experiments. Find out why Ouija boards seem to move by themselves, test your memory in an eyewitness identification challenge, experience visual illusions that distort size and perspective, and see if you can spot the difference between a human and an AI. The event is the flagship event of a year-long programme celebrating the 130th anniversary of the School of Psychology at the University of Aberdeen. Founded in 1896, Aberdeen is home to the oldest psychology department in the UK. The event is open to all ages.
