NAFCo Karen Steven - Scottish Fiddle Workshop - North East Scotland College: Aberdeen City Campus

This fiddle workshop is aimed at beginner/intermediate fiddle players. Grasp the notes – new tunes composed in a traditional Scottish style. Add some ornamentation – a hammer-on and/or pipe grace note. Tackle some bowings – keep the flow going. A chord here, an open-string drone there – keeping the music fresh. Incorporate some new techniques into your existing repertoire. Explore clean and tidy playing versus a bigger, fuller sound. Whatever stage you are at in your playing, dive right in and pick your challenge. After the class, which will be taught by ear (do NOT panic), sheet music and recordings will be available.
