About Anne Lederman - Indigenous Canadian Fiddle Workshop - North East Scotland College: Aberdeen City Campus
The Indigenous Tradition in Canada
The Indigenous First Nations, Native-Canadian fiddle tradition in Northwestern Canada is a unique blend of Scottish, French-Canadian, American and Indigenous musics. Forged in the fur trade of the 18th and 19th centuries. It involves sit-down clogging while playing, irregular phrasing, sometimes altered tunings and unique repertoire. Anne will demonstrate the tradition as it happens in western Manitoba and teach one or two basic tunes.
Level – Intermediate/Advanced
