About Bach: Christmas Oratorio - St Machar's Cathedral
Join the Aberdeen Bach Choir with our Musical Director Paul Tierney as we celebrate our 70th anniversary by performing a selection of parts from J. S. Bach's baroque masterpiece, the Christmas Oratorio (Weihnachtsoratorium).
The Aberdeen Bach Choir first performed this piece in St Machar's Cathedral back in our inaugural year of 1956. Almost exactly 70 years later we will perform the piece again, this time supported by the wonderful Aberdeen Sinfonietta and four outstanding soloists; Elinor Rolfe-Johnson (soprano), Tom Lilburn (counter-tenor), Nathan Vale (tenor) and Ross Cumming (baritone).
We will be performing (in German) parts:
1 - Birth of Jesus
2 - Annunciation to the shepherds
3 - Adoration of the shepherds
6 - Adoration of the Magi
