About PPP - Kenmure Street - The Lemon Tree
Produced by A Play, A Pie and A Pint at Òran Mór
Written by Simon Jay Directed by Nicola McCartney
A verbatim drama retelling the events of when a local Glaswegian community came together to stop a dawn-raid.
On May 13th 2021, two men were forcibly removed from their home in Kenmure Street and thrown into the back of an immigration van.
Within the hour, thousands came to block the van from leaving, leading to an eight-hour stand-off between the police and peaceful protestors, before the two men were eventually let out and freed.
Using conducted interviews, news reports and eyewitness film footage, Kenmure Street retells the events of that momentous day five years on, exploring the power and resilience of community action.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1pm: £13.50; Thursday 6pm, Friday, Saturday: £14.50
A pie and a pint comes free with your ticket and will be available from one hour prior to the start of the performance. We offer a m ince pie and a macaroni pie as standard and can also offer a vegan or gluten free alternative. If you require this, please contact hello@aberdeenperformingarts.com with as much notice as possible (with a minimum of 24 hours notice) and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.
