About Saplinbrae Hotel and Lodges
Saplinbrae Hotel and Lodges is a welcoming destination in the heart of the Buchan countryside, offering beautiful, honest food and comfortable accommodations. Our head chef and talented team put as much care into a pan of soup or quiche as they do into cooking the perfect steak. Guests and locals alike can enjoy all-day dining, from morning coffee and scones, lunch, and afternoon tea—including our multi-award-winning offering—to dinner. Treats like millionaire’s shortbread or a warming bowl of soup are available all day, every day.Our drinks selection includes quality wines, spirits, beers, and whiskies from independent distilleries, vineyards, and Scottish brewers. A selective cocktail list complements our menu, with highlights such as the espresso martini. The Snug recreates the charm of a traditional local pub, where the beer flows and rugby can always be watched on the TV.Being farmers with strong agricultural connections, we prioritise provenance and source locally wherever possible. Our fish comes from Fraserburgh, Peterhead, and Sandend, beef from Foveran, much of our pork and lamb from family farms in Kininmonth and the Black Isle, and our vegetables from Morag in Crimond.Originally built in 1756, Saplinbrae Hotel and Lodges combines historic charm with relaxed country living. All nine bedrooms feature original cornices and unique touches, complemented by local art, antique prints, and tweed accents, with spectacular views over rolling farmland. The self-catering lodges on the hotel grounds include the stone Shooting Lodge, featuring four double en-suite bedrooms, a large sitting room with wood-burning stove, and a spacious kitchen and dining area. Two cosy chalets each sleep six and include a stove and fully equipped kitchen.Located in North Aberdeenshire, Saplinbrae is ideally placed for walks around the Pitfour Estate and the Buchan and Formartine Line, as well as visits to Aden Country Park and nearby golf clubs, including Cruden Bay. Historical sites like Deer Abbey are nearby, and whisky enthusiasts can reach Glendronach Distillery in just 30 minutes.Saplinbrae Hotel and Lodges is also perfect for small conferences, meetings, or company away days.
