RSPB Troup Head

About RSPB Troup Head

The high cliffs of Troup Head provide a spectacular setting for Scotland’s largest mainland gannet colony.Thousands of kittiwakes, guillemots, and razorbills also nest here, along with several other species, including puffins. Offshore, you may be lucky enough to spot porpoises, minke whales, or dolphins. In spring, the grassland bursts with wildflowers and is alive with butterflies and Burnet moths.Troup Head is the highest point along this stretch of the Buchan coast. Even on a winter’s day, when the seabirds are absent, it offers a remarkable walk with stunning views. As an unfenced, wild clifftop reserve, please take care—especially when visiting with small children or dogs. For directions and more information, visit the RSPB website .
