Midmar Stone Circle

The Midmar Recumbent Stone Circle is located in the churchyard of Midmar Parish Church. This impressive stone circle measures 17.3 meters in diameter and features a recumbent stone, flanked by two towering stones and five other upright stones. The two flankers, each approximately 2.5 meters tall, are shaped to resemble enormous canine teeth, guarding the massive recumbent stone, which weighs around 20 tons.It is believed that at least one stone has been re-erected, and a ring cairn may have been removed when the graveyard was established around the circle in 1914.Please note, there is limited parking on-site, and the access road is not suitable for coaches or buses.
