About Inverurie Churchyard Pictish Stones

At Inverurie Churchyard are four Class I Pictish stones, said to have been found built into the walls of the old parish church, which once stood where the cemetery is now located.

The stones are displayed without a protective glass shelter within the graveyard, situated between the Bass and the Little Bass.

The stones include:

  • A reshaped pink granite stone bearing a disc and rectangle symbol and an arch.
  • A pink granite slab decorated with crescent and V-rod, disc and rectangle, serpent and Z-rod, and double disc and Z-rod symbols
  • A reshaped pink granite stone incised with a double disc and Z-rod
  • A pale pink granite stone incised with a horse in motion.

There is limited on-site parking, and the site is not suitable for coaches or buses.
