About Forvie Outdoors

Forvie Outdoors launched with the aim of helping people make memories that they will never forget. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experience paddler, we have something for you. Paddlers ranging from 8- 76 years old have joined us on beginner lessons to 3 hour long coastal tours. We offer stand-up paddleboarding and sit-on-top kayaks lessons and tours around Collieston and Cruden Bay.

Beginner Lessons - Based in Collieston Harbour, around the times of high tide. The enclosed harbour shelters us from the sea, creating a calm environment to learn the basics and have some fun! Perfect for beginners, families, groups of friends, birthdays, and stag or hen groups. Can be 1hr, 1.5hr, or 2hrs.

Hackley Bay Tour - We head South from Collieston, paddling 2km along a wonderful stretch of coastline looking on to Forvie National Nature Reserve and arriving at Hackley Bay. A hidden gem beach which can only be reached by the water or a ~45min walk. Perfect for those looking to explore a new coastline, develop confidence paddling on open water, or looking to spot some wildlife. We often come across dozens of seals, sea birds, dolphins, harbour porpoises, and occasionally jellyfish, crabs, starfish, and even huge sholes of tiny fish depending on visibility and conditions.

New Slains Castle Tour - Starting from Port Errol (Cruden Bay) Harbour, we paddle North for 30-45mins with sights of New Slains Castle from around halfway. For such a popular castle, rarely do you get to see it from the "other" side and it is quite the sight. On this tour we encounter sea birds, the occasional seal and jellyfish, and if we are lucky some dolphins or harbour porpoises.

Coastal Caves Tour - This tour only runs early and late in the season as we do not approach the cliff faces and caves throughout nesting season for the sea birds. Paddle North from Collieston, viewing the sea caves rich in history. Used often by those smuggling contraband ashore, we paddle in to one of the larger caves to explore. Local legend says there is a Pictish alter at the back of the cave...there's only one way to find out.

Teth Sauna - Wood-Fired Off-Grid Sauna - Available to book a seat for 1hr during public sessions, or private bookings. Warm up after a swim in the harbour, or after a paddleboarding/kayaking session. Not your typical gym sauna!
