Dunnideer Stone Circle

Castle of Dunnideer, c.1260. Weather-beaten rectangular tower, partly built from the remains of the prehistoric vitrified fort in which it stands.

Insch to Oyne cycle route is a 19 mile full circuit. The circuit can be broken up into shorter circuits: Insch/Picardy Stone - 6 miles and Oyne - 4 miles.

All that survives of St Drostan's Church is the west gable topped by an ornate 17th Century pedimented bellcote. The bellcote has carved uprights and finials, dog-tooth detailing, scroll moulding and the initials "M/L" for the Leslie family.

The Picardy Stone is a Class I Pictish stone, a rare example of a stone in its original position. It is whinstone with veins of quartz, incised with a double-disc & Z-rod, above a serpent & Z-rod and a mirror symbol. When excavated in 1856, the stone
