Douneside House

Douneside House is a luxury country house hotel set in the heart of Royal Deeside, on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park. Surrounded by 17 acres of beautifully tended gardens, it offers a peaceful base from which to explore some of the finest scenery, attractions and outdoor experiences in Aberdeenshire.

Accommodation includes ten individually designed bedrooms within the main house and nine private cottages and apartments set within the grounds. All guests have access to Douneside’s indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gym, tennis court and gardens, with complimentary golf also available at nearby Tarland Golf Club.

Dining is a central part of the Douneside experience. The Conservatory Restaurant offers relaxed dining overlooking the gardens, with menus shaped by the seasons and produce grown in Douneside’s own walled kitchen garden. The Library Restaurant, the North East of Scotland’s only Three AA Rosettes restaurant, offers an intimate six-course seasonal tasting menu, with optional wine pairing selected by the sommelier.

The estate’s 17-acre gardens include Arts and Crafts terraces, an arboretum, rock-pool gardens, streamside planting, an infinity lawn and a productive walled kitchen garden growing more than 80 varieties of fruit, vegetables and herbs.

Douneside is ideally placed for discovering Royal Deeside, with Balmoral Castle, the Cairngorms National Park, walking and cycling routes, golf, fishing, castles, distilleries and the villages of Ballater and Braemar all within easy reach.
