A musical celebration of the summer solstice.

The chink of ice in your drink, the hues of a long Scottish Summer evening and the atmosphere of an array of unique, light-filled venues can only mean one thing – that Scottish Ensemble’s Concerts for a Summer s Night series is back. Premiering last season to sold-out venues, this immediately popular series returns in 2023 – a counterpart to their other seasonal treat, Concerts by Candlelight. Expect a musical journey that takes in the well-loved (Debussy’s serene Claire de Lune) and the less expected (including music from Jazz legend Chick Corea), introductions from the stage, a complimentary welcome drink on arrival and a chance to chat to musicians afterwards. A perfect way to celebrate summer.

An evening of bright and vivid music in sunlit halls

Our annual summer concerts bring vibrant string music to open, light-filled venues across Scotland. With a programme of music ranging from classical to contemporary, including the second part of our new commission from David Fennessy, Concerts for a Summer’s Night presents a sonic cocktail of bubbling melodies, sweet harmonies, and zesty rhythms.

Returning for its third year, this tour is quickly becoming a highlight of our performance calendar – marking that special moment in Scotland when days stretch longer than nights, and you start to remember the feeling of the sun on your skin (even if it’s amidst the usual Scottish all-seasons-in-one-day!).

The performance lasts approximately 70 minutes with no interval.
