Following their successful concert at Balmuir last August ‘Sopranaria’ are delighted to be returning to perform at the Aboyne & Deeside Festival. Soprano Moira Docherty will be joined in concert by mezzo-soprano Barbara Scott and pianist Robert Duncan.

Moira is a versatile soprano, classically trained at the North-East of Scotland Music School in Aberdeen. She is a principal soprano with Tayside Opera - roles include Tosca, Mimi (La Boheme), Violetta (La Traviata), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth) and Adina (The Elixir of Love) and most recently Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor). Barbara is a classically trained mezzo soprano based near Inverness. She has performed principal roles with Fife Opera, Tayside Opera, and Clyde Opera Group amongst others, with highlights including the title role in Carmen, Fenena in Verdi's Nabucco, Olga in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, and Maddalena in Verdi's Rigoletto.

Robert grew up in Aberdeenshire. He studied piano, organ and accompaniment at the Royal College of Music in London. Robert has been the accompanist for Tayside Opera since 2012 and his partnership with Moira and Barbara began with Tayside Opera's production of Nabucco in 2016. He is based in Perth and he teaches piano at George Heriot's School in Edinburgh and at Strathallan.

Afterwards, afternoon tea with delicious home-baking will be served.
