Some of the Many Lives of Duff House
This is a most interesting and eventful time in the story of Duff House and this Friends of Duff House exhibition will tell stories from this period on multiple panels, prompted by the 80th anniversary of VE Day on 8 May.
The German bombing of the POW camp is fairly well known although additional details will be shared; but Duff House, during this period, had many other uses - and even more suggested ones. Housing German merchant seamen was one use, another being a garrison to protect against a potential invasion into the Moray Firth (this will include images of a rarely seen map that appears to be a planning map of a possible invasion scenario).
This exhibition is being held alongside others at the Museum of Banff and at Banff Castle, which explore Banff and Macduff during World War 2.
