This Morris masterpiece may be small, but it is a delight to play. Combine it with the tranquil setting, dramatic scenery and a warm welcome, and Tarland provides a perfect day at a wonderful course.
Designed by Old Tom Morris in 1908, Tarland is a nine-hole parkland course which represents a challenge to golfers of all abilities. Measuring just over 6,000 yards when played to 18 holes, the well-maintained course with its smooth greens and great fairways is certainly no pushover.
Tarland Golf Club is set in Royal Deeside and rewards golfers with stunning views of the countryside and is a hidden gem. Of particular note is the view from the eighth fairway across the Dee valley to the magnificent Lochnagar – memorable at all times of the year. The signature hole is the 5th measuring over 230 yards (a slight dog-leg) with dangers on both sides, a real challenge.
