Water Sports

Described as “one of the world’s outstanding coastlines” by National Geographic, it’s no surprise that water sports on our beaches are a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike.

For something a little bit different, the 1930’s heated Stonehaven Open Air Pool brings in visitors from across the world looking to enjoy a slightly warmer outdoor swim.

Water zorbing

If you’re looking for less of a challenge and lots of fun, then head to Turriff for some water zorbing! Step into a giant inflated zorb and try your best to stand upright (you’ll find it’s much harder than it sounds).

Challenging, but rewarding

If you’re looking to catch the Aberdeenshire sunrise (or sunset) at its best, then head to Stonehaven to experience paddleboarding. At Stonehaven Paddleboarding, you’ll view the jaw-dropping landmark Dunnottar Castle from a complete new perspective – you might even get the chance to see some dolphins and seals should they be in a sociable mood!

Test yourself on some serious waves

If you’re a keen and confident surfer, then we recommend you head to Sandend Beach in North Aberdeenshire to catch some waves! This sandy beach is just a five minute drive West from Portsoy, and is regarded as one of the best surfing spots in the country.
