The hotel is situated within the heart of Cruden Bay, just 800m from the renowned Cruden Bay Golf Course & is a short stroll from the picturesque beach, working harbour and the imposing ruin of Slains Castle where the hotel's once-regular guest, Bram Stoker, gained inspiration for his novel Dracula. A commemorative plaque has been awarded to the hotel by Historic Environment Scotland in recognition of the early chapters of Dracula having been written there in 1895.
