Saplinbrae Lodges
We have two Log Cabins at Saplinbrae, The Cedar and The Saplin. They offer spacious accommodation for up to five people and are the perfect hideout for a family break. Each log cabin has one double room, one twin, and one single room, its own fully equipped kitchen, dining table, and living area. There’s lots of space outside and a decking area with seating for you to sit back and enjoy the outdoors.
Our lodges are located in North Aberdeenshire, adjacent to our hotel, and Saplinbrae is the perfect seat from which to enjoy time away! We have great walks and cycle routes on our doorstep. Kids want something active but you don’t want to travel far? Pitfour Lake is very close to us and you can cycle or walk round it (or fish in it). Perfect for a relaxing day. From Saplinbrae there are lots of longer routes accessible for cycling and walking, including up to Drinnies Wood Observatory. Fancy another adventure with nature plus a bit of history? Head to Aikey Brae Stone Circle. Dating from the Neolithic and Bronze Age periods, the 10 stones are the most intact recumbent stone circle in Buchan, the remains of Deer Abbey are also just across the road from us. Another Aberdeenshire town not far from us with loads for a family to do is Peterhead. From the Peterhead Prison Museum and Arbuthnot Museum to Slains Castle, Arc Cinema, Buchanhaven Heritage Centre to Angling trips there’s plenty of options. Or why not take on The Peterhead Trail. The North East has four outstanding links courses: Royal Aberdeen, Murcar Links, Trump International and Cruden Bay. All four are widely regarded as being among the best courses in the UK and they all offer a fantastic experience for keen players, Cruden Bay being only a few miles away, you will be spoilt for choice if golfing is your thing! Being situated in the heart of rural Aberdeenshire means we are in a prime shooting area. We work closely with local shooting company, SAC Shooting, and would recommend contacting Scott in the first instance if you would like to book a shooting guide for your time with us.
We also have a beautiful restaurant located within our hotel, a place for guests and locals alike to enjoy beautiful, honest food, unhushed and unhurried, in the eye of the Buchan countryside. We believe in all day dining, and welcome guests for morning coffee and scones, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.
