Deeside Holiday Cottages
Our Cottage lies in the small picturesque village of Dinnet, Royal Deeside. Situated in the Cairngorm national park, it’s a great base to explore everything the park has to offer.
The entrance to the front has a small vestibule leading to the open plan lounge and kitchen area, divided by an oak breakfast bar with black leather stools. The kitchen is well equipped with a gas hob and electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. We have included all the utensils and crockery that you would need for your stay.
There is a large walk-in cupboard housing a washing machine, and iron and ironing board. You will also find the controls for central heating. The lounge is a well-equipped living area with a sofa and oak coffee table. There is a wood-burning stove with a stock of logs for you to enjoy whilst you watch the 3D TV with over 100 channels. We have a book shelf with a small selection of books and some pamphlets about local events and attractions. There’s a staircase from the lounge leading to the 2 bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor.
To the rear of the cottage, there’s a patio with 4 chairs and a table along with a BBQ for you to enjoy. There’s also a parking space for 1 car in the rear garden. To the front of the cottage, there are 4 chairs and a table for you to enjoy the morning sun. Guests have access to the patio at the front of the property, but it also includes a communal path which serves 3 other cottages. The rear of the property is solely for the use of guests.
Walking from the cottage towards the small children’s play park, you will find the start of many walkways which takes you around loch Kinord and Loch Davan, first passing the smaller loch with a decking view point looking out over the water. You can walk or drive to the Burn O' Vat with its stunning waterfalls and home to many wildlife which is at the far side of Loch Kinord and has some great sights to be seen. On your way home, you can stop in past the Loch Kinord Hotel to sample some of their impressive collections of Scottish whiskies or enjoy a meal in their restaurant.
Just across the main road you will find the Deeside Way which was once the railway line that transported the Royal family to their holiday retreat, Balmoral Castle. The Deeside Way is a great path for cyclists and walkers alike that takes you to the neighboring villages and beyond.
The River Dee passes through Dinnet and is well known for its great Salmon fishing which attracts anglers from all over. There is also a stocked Trout fishing area at Tullich, about 2 miles away.
For the high flyers, we have the Deeside Gliding Club between Dinnet and Aboyne which can be pre-booked before your arrival.
There is a bus service from Dinnet, taking you west to the picturesque village of Ballater where you will find an array of shops adorning the Royal warrants which are a guarantee of the quality of goods and service provided to the Royal household. You will also find some great bars and restaurants to dine in. To the east you can travel to Aboyne where you will find a Co-op supermarket and some small shops and is well known for its Highland Games.
We are ideally situated between the Lecht and Glenshee ski centers for the more adventurous guests. Also Braemar, Aboyne, and Ballater golf clubs are short distance away. Aboyne golf course is the oldest club on Royal Deeside. 6000 yards of impeccable fairways and faultless greens. Ballater golf course is situated on the banks of the River Dee. An 18-hole course with breath-taking scenery which changes on every hole. There are also a selection of 9-hole courses for you to enjoy including Tarland, Lumphanan and Torphins. If booking in advance, you can also play the beautiful Balmoral golf course, which is situated within the grounds of Balmoral Castle, the Scottish home to the Royal family.
If you like castles, there is plenty for you to explore around the area. Most are open throughout the summer months except for Balmoral when the Royal family are in residence. Crathes Castle, situated near Banchory, has many events on throughout the year. It is also home to a high treetop adventure park for the brave adventurer in you. Nature spotters will love the waymarked trails along the coy burn- keep an eye out here for buzzards, herons and kingfishers.
