The Sand Bothy
The Sand Bothy is a really exciting community-led project which has been set up and is being run by a group of volunteers. There are three main spaces which make up The Sand Bothy - the Kiosk, the Main Space and the wonderful outdoors!
The Kiosk serves hot and cold drinks and ice-cream through a kiosk hatch at the beach-side of the building.
In the main space, the Visitor Centre displays all sorts of educational information about Balmedie Beach and the environment.
Over time, the main space will also be home to a variety of groups and activities. This may include baby and childrens classes, craft clubs, fundraising events, educational talks, exhibitions, a hub to meet after sport sessions or a space to host business meetings. A flexible space for the community to enjoy with good disabled access.
Finally, the wonderful outdoors. The Sand Bothy is a space where visitors can all come together to learn more about Balmedie Beach and the environment. The dunes are absolutly breath-taking. So, whether you are visiting to go for a walk, take photographs of the dunes, fly a kite or even surf the waves - keep in touch, as you are what The Sand Bothy is all about!
