Silk Room
Named after its floor length 100% embroidered shot silk embroidered curtains, the Silk Room is a real treat. The Silk Room features Duck Egg Blue and Crimson soft furnishings which compliment the fabulous curtain fabric.
This huge room looks out to the rear of the house through triple sash windows with working antique shutters. With a massive comfy emperor size bed and seating area, huge designer storage wardrobes, and a unique antique style sink in the room, guests really don’t want to leave!
Silk Room guests also have access to a very large private bathroom with a large and very deep vintage bath with designer fittings, a vintage style sink and mirror, power shower and bidet.

Durn Suite
Durn Suite encapsulates all that is unique about Durn House. The Durn Suite is also often chosen by brides as the Bridal Suite.
This suite perfectly balances elegance and comfort, and is the perfect tranquil retreat. With a bank of triple Georgian sash windows with original shutters overlooking mature trees and countryside the views are fabulous. The Durn Suite is uniquely decorated with original artwork, National Trust wallpapers and antique style furnishings.
The huge en-suite bathroom is home to a freestanding roll top bath in the centre of the room where you can relax whilst enjoying a unique fire blazing away in the original Portsoy Marble fireplace. There is also a large separate shower.

Dunbar Suite
The Dunbar Suite is located on the executive floor at the top of the sweeping staircase, next to a private guest lounge where guests are welcome to relax.
This large suite room has the original full height exposed vaulted ceiling on display complete with old ironwork from the past including the original 18th century cast iron rooflight which is still in use.
Dunbar is named after past Durn House inhabitants, and in particular Sir James Dunbar of Durn who built the current Durn House in 1770.
The Dunbar Suite hosts a superb antique style Super-King size sleigh bed plus a working desk area and has a number of quirky antique and unusual artifacts on display. A flat screen TV also plays DVD’s which can be borrowed for our extensive guest DVD library.
The large original slate tiled full en-suite bathroom is accessed via double doors where guests can relax in the roll top bath or use the seperate shower.

Ferguson Suite
The Ferguson Suite is named after James Ferguson, Scotland’s most famous astronomer, who lived at Durn House in the 18th century. A first edition book on his life is on display in the guest entrance hall.
This cosy room boasts a superb king-size brass bed with feature fireplace, flat screen Tv and DVD player, welcome tray and a full size en-suite bathroom with a double size shower and full size bath. The Ferguson Suite is positioned to the rear of the house with views over the garden through an original sash window with working shutters.
Located on the executive floor, there is also access to the private guest lounge with large flat screen TV & DVD, and access to a DVD library, reading books, magazines and games.

Sutherland Room
The Sutherland Room is on the second floor at the top of the fabulous sweeping Georgian staircase next to the private guest lounge and has a little French influence. This room has a high beamed vaulted ceiling and a huge 7ft. vintage style Emperor bed to get lost in.
This cosy room has a welcome tray, large flat screen TV & DVD, with access to a comprehensive DVD library, reading books, magazines and games.
The Sutherland Room has a vintage style rooflight window which looks out over the side of the house.
Sutherland Room guests have access to a very large full size private bathroom with a double shower cubicle and full size bath which is just opposite the room.

Tartan Room
Located on the first floor, the Tartan Room is a large double or quadraple room and provides guests adjustable sleeping arrangements or makes an ideal family room. There is a a stunning antique half tester double bed, plus a separate additional double divan bed so the room can sleep four guests.
The Tartan room looks out over the fron of the house via an original Georgian sash window with working shutters. the room also boasts a feature fireplace.
The Tartan Room is so named after the exquisite tartan curtains and matching soft furnishings. The walls have original artwork on display and there is a comfy seating area where guests can sip their tea!
Guests staying in Tartan have access to their own private shower room, unique to the room, which is just along the hall. We supply fluffy bathrobes for all guests.

Culloden Suite
Named after the famous battle of Culloden to which Durn House has strong historical links, the Culloden Room is a bright guest room which overlooks the garden via an original sash window with lovely views of woodland.
It boasts an antique super-king size castle bed with feather duvet and pillows for a super night’s sleep. Decorated in pale blues and yellows, the room has stunning antique curtains and matching soft furnishings.
The en-suite shower room also has a working sash window overlooking the garden with the original shutters which can be closed for privacy if required. There is a shower cubicle and heated towel rail plus fluffy bath robes for each guest.
All our rooms also feature USB charger ports.
