Championship Courses

Designed to perfection by renowned international architects, our championship golf courses are some of the most scenic, and well-known, in the world.

Many of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire’s famous golf courses have been created to host top international golf competitions - in 2014, Royal Aberdeen was even host to the Scottish Open! The famous Club, founded in 1780, was given the ‘Royal’ designation by Edward VII in 1903.

With a par of 71, Murcar Links Golf Club is not only a championship links course but also regularly makes it on to the ‘top 100 golf courses in the UK’ list. The course has held several important competitions over its 100 year old history, most recently, in 2016, Murcar was host to the European Tour Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play.

A few miles along the coast, Aberdeenshire’s newest golf course, Trump International Golf Links, can be found in the majestic dunes of Balmedie. The course is set against the dramatic backdrop of coastal views and boasts an impressive 72 championship par course which is being enjoyed by keen golfers from across the world.

Just two miles north of Trump is the championship Newburgh on Ythan Golf Club, overlooking the grand sands of Forvie Nature Reserve. And if you travel along this same coastline you will find Cruden Bay Golf Club, the 54th Best Course in the World, according to US publication Links Magazine. Set against a sandy backdrop with impressive views that reach the inspiring Slains Castle, this course is memorable.
