Adventure Activities

From mountain bike trails and hiking four of the five highest mountains in the UK, to paddleboarding off a coastal village and descending awesome slopes, your outdoor adventure is right here in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Escape to legendary climbs and panoramic views as you bag some (or all!) 30 Scottish Munros in Aberdeenshire including Braeriach (1,296m), Ben Macdui (1,309m) and famous Lochnagar (1,155) on the majestic Balmoral Estate.

If you're a keen cyclist, then why not try your luck at the Aberdeenshire Ascents? This new initiative recognises ten of the most challenging cycling routes found in the region.

Or experience the thrill of epic mountain biking trails in Aberdeenshire in spectacular terrain through Caledonian pine forest, across secluded valleys and traversing breath-taking ridges. On the road bike you can conquer lung busting climbs in the Cairngorms National Park and if gravel riding is your thing then take to the hundreds of kilometres of adventure trails through our historic landscape.

In winter take to the slopes of Aberdeenshire’s mountain passes and valleys at Glenshee – home to the UK’s largest lift system, and The Lecht 2090 - an incredible 2090 feet above sea level.

There’s the option to get out on the water too, along some of 165 miles of outstanding coastline in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Surf North Sea waves in the city centre, Fraserburgh or Sandend and you can even go on a paddle-boarding castle and cave tour with Stonehaven Paddleboarding
