This is why Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire is great for wildlife fans!

Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire are home to some fantastic opportunities to enjoy being surrounded by nature and wildlife.
Even in the city centre, dolphins can be seen just moments from the harbour mouth. This isn’t just a city by the sea, it’s a city of the sea! Some of my favourite spots across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire are home to unique ecosystems and plenty to get excited about for nature loving tourists. The current season is the perfect time to enjoy our local nature & wildlife with the help of Energetica Summer Festival.
Torry Battery
Torry Battery in Aberdeen offers fantastic views into the North Sea, but even more impressive views of the incredibly intelligent bottlenose dolphins feeding at the harbour mouth. Visit RSPB Dolphinwatch from April to August and on a good day you may even be able to see some of the dolphin’s neighbours: harbour porpoises, minke whales and even humpback whales have been known to visit. Of course there are a number of local seabirds in the area including the redshank, oystercatcher, eider duck, cormorant, shag, sandwich tern, gulls, goldfinch, linnet, skylark and swallows.
Bullers of Buchan
The Bullers of Buchan along the Aberdeenshire coast is not for the faint-hearted, but are certainly a great spot for seabird enthusiasts! The domineering cliff edge is a sight to behold in itself, but you may even be lucky enough to spot shags, kittiwakes, fulmars, guillemots, razorbills and the ever so popular puffins!
It was a delight to see the puffins on the cliff tops at the Bullers of Buchan. @VisitScotland @visitabdn @BanffshireCoast @Energetica_uk pic.twitter.com/4ljwWw31uI

The Bullers of Buchan is not the only place in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire region that is a puffin hotspot – they can also be found at RSPB Fowlsheugh towards the South of Aberdeenshire.
Glenmuick
One of my newly discovered favourite places has been Glenmuick in Royal Deeside, for it was there that I met the largest group of deer I had ever seen! Recently my family have taken on the 8 mile walk (well actually the walk is just shy of 8 miles at 7.75 miles – let’s not exaggerate) around Loch Muick and to my delight upon our return to the Spittal of Glenmuick Visitor Centre we were met by dozens of deer. This was something I thought I would never see and made the walk around the Loch even more worth it!
