Let There Be Meat!
22 August 2014
Boozy Cow! Its maybe a name you’re more used to hearing when you’ve had a couple of wines too many with your girlfriends, but now you can associate it with the coolest new food joint in town!
The Boozy Cow only opened a few days ago and already the good reviews are flowing in. I had the pleasure of going in to try it out last night with my boyfriend, Alistair. And all I can say is “mmmmmm” (in case you don’t speak fluent in my-mouth-is-full-of-burger-and-it-tastes-soooo-good, that is a good yummy noise).
The first thing that grabs your attention when you walk in is the décor. It’s a cross between an abattoir, an American burger bar and a dirty underground hideaway. Thankfully the staff encourage you to get dirty. And by that I mean to tuck in to the food with your fingers! There is a roll of kitchen roll strategically placed at the end of your table, but don’t worry you can get cutlery if you need some!
The main attraction on the menu is obviously the meaty burgers but there are also hotdogs, chicken burgers, salads, coleslaw as well as some great sides. Alistair and I were really struggling with what to order – it all sounded so good! We spoke to a couple of the BC team and they recommended the red chilli cheese burger, chilli mac ‘n’ cheese waffle and onion rings so we ordered them as well as a maple bacon cheese burger and skinny fries. We managed to pretty much polish it all off between us and I even had room for an ice cream float too! Note to self: leave room for the Oreo milkshake next time! Oh and the Chocolate Stampede pudding!
The Boozy Cow is not a place you go to having eaten maybe an hour or two before – you need to go in with a suitable appetite. We even got to witness 2 chaps polish off the Chilli Challenge (well done guys – you made it look easy!). If you think you can tackle a chilli burger, chilli dog, chilli fries and a milkshake in 20 minutes or less your dinner’s on the house. And if not, you only need to pay £22 to walk out hanging your head in shame.
Thanks to the team (Chris, Grant and Charlotte) for thoroughly looking after us! We’ll see you again soon – and next time it will be to take on the Chilli Challenge!
