Terror-ific Halloween events in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire

Halloween, a time for tricks or treats, ghosts and witches, chocolates and candy galore, but what about those of us who have graduated past dressing up in creepy costumes and going ‘guising’ (Scots for ‘trick or treating’)? What about those of us who genuinely want to be frightened? To feel the hairs raise on the back of our neck and feel that rush of adrenaline as you teeter down the trail that makes you feel as though you were in a Stephen King novel… Well look no further we’ve been tracking down the most frightening events happening in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire this Halloween. We’ll warn you now that these tours are not for the faint hearted.

CarnEVIL II [Selected dates from 28 September – 26 October 2018]
Carnival performers have been trapped, tortured and murdered! And they’re back to seek revenge and wreak havoc in the carnival overlooking Aberdeen’s Beach. Will those unfortunate enough to stumble into their lair manage to escape from this terrifying walk-through experience?

Peterhead Prison Museum Halloween Tours [25-27, 29-31 October 2018]
Walking around a retired-prison is spooky on the best of times so imagine creeping around a prison in complete darkness while the “ghosts” come out to play. Can your nerves handle the suspense of what could be waiting around each corner?
Please note, this is a very popular event which has sold out in previous years extremely quickly. Tickets go on sale on 28 September via Eventbrite. Book promptly to avoid disappointment.

Crathes Castle: Ghoulish Ghost Tours [25-27, 31 October 2018]
Crathes Castle is not unfamiliar to seeing strange goings on. The castle is known to have not one but two ghosts: The Green Lady and the White Lady. Will they make an appearance as you you’re your way through the creepy corridors and spooky staircases through this Halloween tour?

Ghost Tours at Fyvie Castle [26, 27 & 31 October]
Fyvie Castle is often ranked amongst the most haunted castles in Britain. Three ghosts are said to haunt these halls – the ghost Green Lady, the Grey Lady and a ghostly trumpeter but if that wasn’t enough the castle is curse never to have a male heir live to maturity thanks to three ‘weeping stones’. Haddo House Horror [27 October 2018]
Don’t be fooled by the grandeur of your surroundings, Haddo House is no stranger to the supernatural. This is a place where locked attic doors shake violently and spirits threaten staff and chase them through the corridors. The Haunted Outlander Tour at the House of Schivas [27 October 2018]

Murder Mystery: Things that go bump in the night! at Drum Castle [27 October 2018]
Drum Castle, a hotspot of supernatural activities, so much so that in 2014 one of their resident ghosts was even captured on camera! This Halloween join Graeme Reaper for an evening of grim stories and a murder mystery as you enjoy a three course meal. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes (if you survive the night!)
