Take on the slopes!

People can be active in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire all year-round, no matter the weather!  This part of Scotland is colder, drier, fresher and winter days here bring their own reward.

This means you can head out to Royal Deeside, where Aberdeenshire meets the Cairngorms National Park, and take on some of the region’s best slopes. Here, you will find two ski resorts. The Lecht, is found deep in the eastern Cairngorm mountains at 2090 feet above sea level! There are 12 different lifts here and three chair lifts which will take you up into this playground for skiers and snowboarders. With a full range of terrains across the resort, there are courses earmarked as anything from ‘easy’ to ‘very difficult’.  And if you’re planning a summer, or non-snowy, trip, The Lecht is also open to mountain bikers!

Further out, you will find Glenshee. Huddled amongst imposing mountains, this ski resort is home to the UK’s most extensive skiing and snowboarding facilities. With an impressive 22 lifts and 36 runs extended across three valleys and four mountains, Glenshee has a range of natural terrains for all standards of skiers and snowboarders. Did you know that Glenshee was the host of the first British Snowboarding Championships?

You don’t have to be an expert to visit our ski resorts, there are beginner-friendly (and children-friendly) slopes too – with the added option of a snow sports school too! Don’t forget that you can hire all the equipment here too.
